We are seeking a full time Packaging Development Technologist to work within a Packaging Development team in our thermal laboratory facility.

This role will be based in Hemel/Tring but travel will be required to customers to support our Business Development Managers and to 3rd party laboratories to conduct specialist testing studies.

The main purpose of this role will be to design, test and manage the project development of insulated packaging solutions for our customers in the pharmaceutical and health care markets.

In outline, the person will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and developing packaging requirements with the customer and sales team
  • Conducting packaging development programs and testing using thermal test equipment and software packages such as CAD, Data Acquisition and internal databases.
  • Producing reports and maintaining test and equipment records.
  • Utilising development best practices and tools to minimise development lead-times, enhancing customer service.
  • Preparing packaging component specifications and implement packaging specifications with outside suppliers.
  • Working with the Sales team on any new product / service development.


    Ideally applicants should come from a design related background and have experience of working with design tools such as CAD software and databases. Experience in a testing related environment is beneficial.

    The ideal candidate should be well educated, ideally with a Degree/ HNC /Diploma in a form of Engineering, Design or Science discipline, i.e. Physics or Chemistry and possess both good numeracy and communication skills, be computer literate, logical and have a keen eye for detail. They should be prepared to work using their own initiative as well as part of the team.

    ESSENTIAL
    Experience in design related field

    DESIRABLE
    Experience with software packages such as Computer-aided design(CAD)
    Experience in a testing related environment
    Practical experience in conducting testing studies
    Experience in using thermal test equipment and working to specifications
    Experience in managing projects


    QUALIFICATIONS

    DESIRABLE
    Degree /HNC/ Diploma in any Engineering courses
    Degree/HNC/Diploma/ A Levels in Design, Maths, Physics or Chemistry

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

    ESSENTIAL
    Computer skills, experience of Word, Excel, Outlook
    Good organising and planning skills, meet targets and work to deadlines.
    Good attention to detail
    Logical and analytical approach
